Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe was found not guilty of manslaughter in a Czech courtroom this morning. “I am a free man,” he announced.

Last summer the singer spent five weeks in a Czech prison after being accused of pushing 19 year old fan Daniel Nosek to his death during a Lamb of God concert in 2010.

The metal singer was released to the U.S. on $400,000 bail with the agreement that he would return for trial. Last August he pledged he would return to face his accusers, releasing a statement that read in part, “I will not hide in the United States.”

In addition to Daniel’s family seeking $530,000 in compensation, Blythe was faced with 5-10 years in prison if convicted for involuntary manslaughter. A lesser charge could also have been negligence, which carried a lesser sentence.

“I’m very sorry for your loss,” Blythe expressed to the boys parent and the three-judge panel. “If ultimately the Czech legal system sentences me to prison I will do my sentence like a man. Daniel was a fan of my band and I had no wish to harm him. He was just a boy. I wish he was still here.”
