While his band is on hiatus, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has been keeping very busy, most notably directing Sound City, a rock documentary detailing the rise and fall of the Van Nuys, California, recording studio of the same name.
After releasing the film’s official trailer this week, it’s now been revealed that the movie’s digital release date is February 1, 2013, and is currently available for a limited time presale price of $10.
“As a first time director, I am humbled to be able to share my passion for songwriting and storytelling with this incredible cast of legendary musicians, as seen through the extraordinary story of America’s greatest unsung recording studio, Sound City,” Grohl said in a press release earlier this week, announcing that Sound City will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, happening January 17 – 27, 2013.
Grohl has also been busy on the small screen, guest-hosting an episode of E! TV talk show Chelsea Lately this week, where he jokingly debated the controversy surrounding pop star Justin Bieber’s GRAMMY nomination snub this year.
