Sonic Youth Performs in Concert in Madrid

A lot of people are wondering what the hell is going on with Sonic Youth, and there’s not much we’ve heard from them apart from the upcoming release of some archival footage and unreleased tracks, but a reunion is still pending.

What we do know, however, is that its members are taking on a lot of side projects in the meantime, as well as playing in several different bands. In the case of guitarist and frontman Thurston Moore, he’s joined yet another band, this time venturing into black metal.

Moore’s the newest member of Twilight, a black metal supergroup, whose most recent album was released in 2010. According to Pitchfork, apparently Moore met the guys of Twilight fairly recently and was excited to join, stating his love for the genre.

Who would have thought?

The band’s newest album will be released in the fall, so we can hear just how Moore will fit into this new dynamic (listen to one of their most recent tracks below).

Moore’s also a member of the punk-alternative group Chelsea Light Moving, so it’s safe to say he’s a busy man these days. Check out Chelsea Light Moving’s “Burroughs” below.
