A New Side To Ariel Pink

If you don’t pay enough attention, the new single from Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti might just slip by you. Not because it’s bad — I love it actually — but because it doesn’t sound anything like what we’re used to hearing from Ariel Pink.

Ariel Pink made himself known with his homemade, lo-fi sound which bends the standard for quality of today’s recordings. Fortunately, it works out for him. He has an integral part in the music he makes. Most often playing and producing everything he releases, Ariel Pink has been making music for 10 years.

His newest album, Mature Themes is highly anticipated at this point and will be out August 21. This single, “Only In My Dreams” hit the airwaves this morning, gracing us with its catchy melodies and blissful backup vocals. This track just sounds like it’s full of love and care. It’s notably more high-quality in sound, and features a warm tonality which surprisingly suits him extremely well. Hopefully Mature Themes beholds more where this came from.

If you like what you hear, catch Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti at the Granada on September 8th.
